Urban Age Task Force Athens launched
A strategic cooperation between the City of Athens and Urban Age begins
With the beginning of March, Urban Age is launching a new task force: For the next 18 months, the Urban Age Task Force Athens will operate as a partnership between the City of Athens and the Urban Age programme to address key priority areas in Athens’ urban development. The project will be coordinated by the Urban Age partners Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft and LSE Cities.
The initiative will focus on key areas of urban intervention, including public space, access and walkability, greening the city, and addiction and homelessness. It will involve establishing workshops of local and international experts as well as site visits to cities that have undergone successful urban change to identify best practice in the effective delivery of complex urban projects. In addition, the institutions will collaborate on assembling data on key urban indicators, employing state-of-the-art GIS mapping and visualisations.
The Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft cooperates with the LSE Cities in the Urban Age programme since several years. The installation of temporary task forces composed of local and international experts and actors aims at creating local impact from academic knowledge. The first task force operates in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, since 2019.
