"A good start to Europe‘s Digital Decade?"
With Katarina Barley, Vice President of the European Parliament, within the project "Digital Europe 2030"
"A good start to Europe's Digital Decade?" We will discuss this question on 29 January with Dr. Katarina Barley, Vice President of the European Parliament.
Just over a year ago, the von der Leyen Commission took office with the goal of creating a “Europe fit for the digital age” as one of its highest priorities. Europe should expand its digital sovereignty and set its own standards instead of following the United States or China. With the Digital Services Act and the Digital Markets Act, the Commission has come up with two ambitious proposals for the regulation of the digital realm.
We intend to discuss how the stated strategic goals for Europe's digital policy may be assessed, how the coronavirus pandemic is affecting them, and whether Europe has, all things considered, gotten off to a good start to the "Digital Decade".
A keynote speech by Dr. Barley will be followed by a discussion with guests, including various contributors to the project Digital Europe 2030. Dr. Claudia Huber, Head of Europe Programme at Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft, will moderate the event.
The Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft established the project "Lunch with..." at the beginning of 2020. The thematic lunches start with keynote speeches by diverse guest speakers, who then enter into dialogue with a limited number of invited guests.
Participation in these events is by invitation only. If you are interested and would like to receive more information, please contact Samuel Walker.
